04 How does the six-month cap work across multiple job losses?

Members have six months of total coverage, which can be used continuously or split across separate unemployment events — for example, three months during one event, leaving three for a future event.

The program deactivates automatically once the cap is reached. A member who returns to full-time W-2 employment may re-apply, and a new 180-day waiting period applies.

Answers written for institutions evaluating the program.

01 Is Job Loss Lifeline insurance?

No. This is a guaranteed-issue individual job-loss income membership program, not an insurance product. It covers W-2 full-time employees ages 18–64. It does not cover part-time, 1099, self-employed, temporary, or seasonal workers.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

07 How are claims processed and verified?

Members receive enrollment access details within 10 days of signup. Claims are submitted by email and verified against W-2 full-time employment status at enrollment. Approval for state unemployment benefits is required. Claims average a 10-day processing turnaround.

05 How long has the program been available?

The parent company was established in 1992, and this membership program launched in 2001.

03 What does the benefits pay?

$500 per month for up to six months — a maximum of $3,000 per member.

08 How do businesses integrate the program?

Businesses selling products or services through recurring payment contracts can embed the program as an added-value benefit. It functions as customer payment protection, designed to help maintain contracted monthly payments during a qualifying job-loss event, subject to program terms.

02 What is the waiting period before a claim can be filed?

There is a mandatory 180-day waiting period after enrollment before benefits can be claimed. Members must remain continuously employed during this period.

06 What does a membership cost, and who can pay for it?

Memberships are $39.70 per month and run month-to-month. Income protection covers the enrolled individual only, so separate memberships are required for multiple individuals.

Under the Qualifying Guardian provision, a direct family member — spouse, parent, or grandparent — may enroll and pay premiums on behalf of an eligible worker.

Premiums are waived while a member is actively receiving job-loss benefits, and resume upon re-employment. Deactivation requires a written email request with 30 days' notice.

We'll follow up with program information. Your details are used only to respond to this request.
